Lim Yen is a Singapore-based storyteller with more than 8 years of experience in editing long and short-form fiction, non-fiction, reality, commercial, branded content, music videos, and more.
In August 2023, she was selected amongst 50 other filmmakers to partake in a 10-day Creators’ Lab in Yucatan, Mexico, guided by Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul, produced by Playlab Films, wherein she was open to the concept of "how not to make a film", whilst also making one in the process.
Adopting an alternative way of filmmaking where no scripts, shot lists, planning are involved, this labour of love took her to a different culture, space and time. She believes in always finding new and alternative ways of telling stories and not conforming to conventions, and being open to exploring the endless capabilities in moving images. The short film titled “exits / entrances” is her comeback into the film scene. It is currently making its festival rounds.
Aside from that, she is currently editing her first feature film, “Orang Ikan”, directed by Mike Wiluan, come end-2024.
